THE FEEL / THE FIT / THE FINISH

A space that feels like yours.

Bespoke marine upholstery, considered from the first conversation to the final fitting.

Compare fabric, foam, piping and thread together. Confirm the pattern and fixing details before the finished pieces are made.

A CLOSER LOOK / PERSONALLY CONSIDERED

From swatch to seating.

Colour is only the beginning. Compare the material in the light of your space, then consider the cushion profile and the finish at its edges.

  • Material. Confirm the precise collection and feel using physical samples.
  • Construction. Agree the pattern, cushion depth and fastening details.
  • Finish. Bring piping, seams and border stitching into one direction.

YOUR PROJECT / THE STARTING POINT

A whole-yacht direction. A clear scope.

Start by listing the areas to renew and the pieces to retain. A coordinated refit can connect aft-deck seating, cockpit cushions, sunpads and saloon upholstery without using the same construction or fabric everywhere. Establish the intended visual direction, the comfort requirements and the practical priorities for each space.

Keep approvals and manufacture in step.

Identify who sets the design direction, who approves physical samples and who coordinates access aboard. Agree when measurements become final, particularly if joinery or seat bases are changing. The production and transport plan can then be developed around a signed-off specification rather than a collection of separate assumptions.

FROM MATERIAL TO FINISH

Consider every layer.

Discuss the selected fabric, foam, cover construction, piping and fixing points as one piece of work. Spradling, Sunbrella and Agora ranges can be explored in the studio, with physical samples used for final material approval.

Where a survey is appropriate, Josh combines hands-on checks with measurements, templates and 3D scanning as needed. The specification and production plan are agreed before manufacture.

PRACTICAL QUESTIONS

Before the first cut.

Does a coordinated refit mean replacing everything?

No. Define what should change and what is worth retaining. A connected scheme can be developed around existing pieces where appropriate.

Can work be phased?

Share the areas and intended dates. Josh can discuss a staged scope, material availability and the practical relationship between each phase before confirming the production plan.

Can a captain manage the brief?

Yes. Use the captain’s checklist to gather access details, photographs, approvals and the vessel schedule. An onboard visit and any travel are agreed separately.

BRISTOL / EU-WIDE ONBOARD CONSULTATIONS

Your boat. Your next chapter.

Share the marina, vessel, scope and preferred timing. Visits, travel costs, transport and fitting are confirmed for the commission.

THE PRACTICAL DETAIL

Patterns follow the final geometry.

Where joinery, bases or fixing positions change during a refit, share the sequence before final templates are agreed. Establish who approves the material schedule and any later changes. Survey, manufacture, transport and fitting need to align with the yacht’s wider programme.

Can I use one approval contact for several seating areas?

Yes. Identify who gathers information and who has final authority for materials, construction and changes. Those roles can be agreed with the owner, captain or designer.

What happens if seat bases change after measurement?

Tell Josh before manufacture proceeds. A changed base can affect the pattern, profile and fitting plan and may require further checks.

01

Map the spaces and priorities

Identify the areas to renew, retained upholstery and the order in which spaces can be released. Tell us when the yacht needs to remain usable.

02

Name the approval contact

Agree who signs off samples, filling and patterns: owner, captain, designer or yard. Keep the approved collection references together across the project.

03

Plan removal through handover

Record yard access, vessel movements and fitting responsibilities. UK collection and EU arrangements are scoped individually around the refit programme.
