01Check the support underneath+
Show the entire frame and the surface that carries the cushion. Slats, open spaces and curved edges affect the outline and support discussion; note any existing sagging or damaged furniture.
02Consider one pad or sections+
A single piece gives a continuous surface but can be harder to move and store. A divided arrangement introduces joins. Discuss where those joins would fall before agreeing a new layout.
03Balance depth and back cushions+
Show any canopy, fixed back or arm height around the pad. A thicker replacement can change how the whole daybed feels and how much space remains for back cushions.

It can be assessed if it still has the right shape and support. Tell Josh about uneven areas, permanent compression or handling problems before deciding on covers only.
