YOUR SEATING / YOUR SPECIFICATION

Comfort starts beneath the cover.

Start with photographs and what you want to improve. Josh considers the material, support, pattern and practical handover together, with the scope agreed around your boat.

01 / THE SHAPE

Describe the support you want to change.

Tell Josh whether a seat feels flat, uneven, too firm or too soft. Share its thickness, profile and how it sits on the base. Photos of the complete seat and any already-accessible filling help distinguish visible cover wear from a support problem.

A cushion’s feel depends on its shape, thickness, construction and the support beneath it. The specification is agreed around the particular use. A single density description is not a universal recommendation for every marine seat.

THE SHAPE

Follow every curve.

Pattern, orientation, access and retained fixings are considered around the actual seating.

THE COMFORT

Consider every layer.

Cover, filling and the support beneath it work together. Discuss what stays and what changes.

THE FINISH

The border. The seam.

Coordinate material, piping and stitching details, with physical samples confirmed before manufacture.

02 / THE SPECIFICATION

Keep filling and cover fit connected.

Replacement filling needs to work with the finished cover and seating arrangement. Consider curved edges, backrest angles, meeting points and any split sections. A change in depth can also change how the cushion clears lockers and neighbouring pieces.

Discuss whether the existing cover is suitable to retain or whether new covers should accompany the filling. Material, seams, underside and exposure are considered together. Foam selection alone does not establish the water performance of the complete cushion.

03 / THE HANDOVER

A useful assessment before dispatch.

Photograph each piece in place and number the set. Describe the desired comfort and any restrictions on thickness, storage access or fixings. Do not cut the filling down before the proposed profile has been agreed.

For removable cushions, UK or EU collection can be planned with packing and return responsibilities confirmed. Same-day UK courier refers to collection by confirmed booking. Pattern approval, manufacture and return dates are separate parts of the commission.

BEFORE THE FIRST CUT

Your practical questions.

Will new covers fix flattened foam?

A cover alone cannot restore lost support. Describe the comfort issue so covers and filling can be assessed as separate parts of the scope.

Can foam be shaped around curved seating?

The intended profile and base are assessed together. Curves, meeting edges and cover fit need to be reflected in the agreed pattern.

Can I retain my current covers?

Possibly. Their condition, dimensions and suitability for the replacement profile need assessment before that decision.

Is there one best foam for every boat?

No. The use, thickness, desired feel, base and complete cushion construction guide the specification.
