A width and depth alone cannot describe every cushion. Curves, tapers and adjoining pieces need a clear outline, a known orientation and the context of the supporting seat.

01Record the supported outline+
Photograph the empty base and the installed cushion, then follow the agreed pattern method for the actual shape. Keep any corner radius or taper visible rather than replacing it with a guessed rectangle.
02Mark orientation and neighbouring pieces+
Show the front edge, left and right reference, and the joints with adjacent cushions. If pieces meet around a curve, record the whole group so individual patterns do not lose their relationship.
03Keep thickness and profile separate+
A flat outline does not describe a shaped back or sloping edge. Add side photographs and the requested depth measurements, and flag contours that may need further assessment rather than improvising a pattern.

Can I create a pattern from a phone photograph?
A photograph is useful context, but perspective can distort dimensions. Use the agreed physical pattern or measurement route for manufacture.
Can pattern paper record a three-dimensional seat shell?
It may help with some surfaces, but a complex shell can need additional methods and checks. Josh will advise after reviewing the actual shape and access.
