Photograph the support slats, arms and backrest without cushions. Identify loose or damaged timber before upholstery is specified; a new cushion is not a repair to the furniture structure.
02Balance cushion and timber proportions+
Record the space beneath arms and how much backrest remains visible. A deeper pad can change both the sitting position and the relationship between upholstery and exposed wood.
03Approve colours against the actual furniture+
Use the current timber finish as the reference, particularly if the frame is being cleaned or refinished. Compare samples after the intended finish is established rather than relying on a generic teak colour.

Yes, a cushion-only commission can be discussed. Any necessary furniture repair or refinishing should be arranged separately and completed in time to confirm the fit.
Must the cushions copy the original style?
No. You can discuss a different profile, plain fabric, texture or contrasting piping. The revised design still needs to be checked against the frame and the way the furniture is used.
