01Choose the important sightlines+
Show the furniture from its normal viewing angle and mark the cushion front. Agree where an uninterrupted fabric face matters most, then discuss the seams needed around curves, borders and changes of depth.
02Give openings a practical location+
A zip needs a workable route for inserting or removing the agreed filling. Photograph the rear and underside as well as the visible face, including slats or fittings that could rub against an opening.
03Resolve piping and pattern together+
Piping can define the edge, while a stripe or larger pattern creates a separate alignment decision. Approve the combination before cutting and record which pieces are left- or right-handed. A digital preview is not a production pattern.

No. The finished construction includes joins, openings and other details. Discuss the complete piece and its care rather than assuming the fabric name settles that question.
