This RIB concept brings the forward seating and aft bench into one restrained direction. Plain ivory faces, warmer borders and slim blue piping create definition without quilted panels or an overly busy finish.
The imagined brief is to renew a complete group of upholstered pieces while respecting the boat’s existing layout. The design discussion would begin with the seats, bases and accessible attachments, then move to the support and the visible finish.

THE IMAGINED BRIEF
One palette. A connected seating scheme.

THE DESIGN THINKING
The details behind the feeling.
01
Treat the group as a whole
Photograph the forward seats and rear bench together before removing anything. Identify the pieces that stay, those to renew and any differences in shape. A shared palette does not require every panel to be identical.
02
Keep support and mechanisms separate
Upholstery renewal does not automatically include structural repairs or altered seat mechanisms. Show the base, hinges and existing fittings where safely accessible, and agree who assesses or changes them.
03
Use the edge to define the shape
A narrow piping line can trace the outline while keeping the faces plain. The final seam and piping positions would follow the real seat geometry, with exact materials approved from samples.
MAKE THE NEXT STEP CLEAR
From a concept to your own pieces.
These are the decisions to resolve before a design direction becomes a manufacturing brief.
The forward seats+
Assess finished support and how upholstered panels meet the retained structure. The rendering is an idea for the appearance, not an engineering drawing or a safety assessment.
The aft bench+
Check its relationship with backrests, corners and lockers. Label individual pieces so the pattern and returned layout remain clear.
Your colour direction+
Compare a quieter matching border with the contrast illustrated here. The studio uses a lounge scene to compare colours and piping. Your RIB’s own shape and the actual material finish are agreed separately.
Send photographs of your actual pieces and tell Josh what you would like to change. We will agree the material, pattern and practical route around them.
Fast quotes and UK-wide courier. Same-day collection is available by confirmed booking; it does not mean same-day manufacture. Packing, access, costs and return arrangements are agreed for your pieces.
