Imagine a favourite timber corner sofa with a calmer, more generous cushion scheme. Warm ivory seat faces sit beneath soft sage backs, while ocean-blue scatters bring a little coastal colour into the garden.
The imagined brief is a complete cushion refresh around retained furniture. The aim is an inviting place to sit with enough visual restraint for the timber, planting and upholstery to feel connected. This is a design direction to adapt to your own furniture.

THE DESIGN THINKING
The details behind the feeling.
01
A corner that belongs together
The corner piece sets the relationship between the two runs. Before choosing fabric, photograph every cushion in place and record how the backs meet. Similar-looking seat pads may still have different tapers or depths.
02
Comfort in proportion
Generous-looking cushions still need to suit the frame. A thicker seat changes sitting height; a fuller back reduces usable seat depth. The final filling, finished dimensions and cover pattern would be agreed together.
03
Colour with a clear role
Ivory keeps the largest surfaces quiet, sage connects the backs to the planting, and blue adds a controlled accent. Compare woven Sunbrella and Agora samples in the real setting before selecting the exact collection.
MAKE THE NEXT STEP CLEAR
From a concept to your own pieces.
These are the decisions to resolve before a design direction becomes a manufacturing brief.
The main cushions+
Plain faces and neat seams let the cushion proportions lead. The image illustrates a colour direction; it does not depict a verified manufacturer fabric or finished customer order.
The tailored edge+
A narrow piping detail can define the border without making the set busy. Its position, material and colour would be sampled alongside the main upholstery.
The practical route+
Send the complete furniture arrangement and collection postcode. Existing cushions or supplied pattern material can form an agreed template route, with new foam assessed where needed.
Send photographs of your actual pieces and tell Josh what you would like to change. We will agree the material, pattern and practical route around them.
Fast quotes and UK-wide courier. Same-day collection is available by confirmed booking; it does not mean same-day manufacture. Packing, access, costs and return arrangements are agreed for your pieces.
